What is Fascia?

Fascia is the connective tissue of the body. It supports, surrounds and transects every organ, muscle, blood vessel and nerve. It is the environment in which all cells of the body live. Ligaments and tendons are thickened fascial structures.

When fascia is healthy, it runs throughout the body with ease- allowing all parts to communicate instantaneously. Trauma, inflammation and some surgeries create fascial restrictions able to produce two tons of pressure per square inch on pain sensitive structures. These fascial restrictions inhibit the flow of nutrients to surrounding structures & cells, along with preventing waste elimination from areas around the cells, thus contributing to diseased cells in the area.

Myofascial release techniques release the facial restrictions, restoring circulation to the area + releasing pressure from the fascial structures + restoring health to the cells and tissues.
